A Passion for the Art

It is a different art... it brings people together but also has the ability to put an expressive barrier between individuals . Sometimes what we wear seems frivolous to the fashion outsider but those who carry this love for apparel deep within themselves know that their body is the canvas and clothes the paint of the inner self. It is an art form that is practiced daily not by picking up that pair of jeans and shirt from your closet every morning, but by the expression of oneself that comes from that “outfit.” The individual will spend seconds, minutes, or hours picking it out. Whether you like it or not, what you wear represents either the lifestyle you live, the one you want, or in Lady Gaga’s case, the fantasy in your head. While fashion does get its fair share of attention, the extent of its impact is underestimated. When you look at trends over not only the past decades but throughout time, the things people wear and colors that are used in their clothing depict what’s going on around the world. Emotions stirring within are expressed through the chosen colors, fabric and lines that are created for each person in society. Fashion is not something that is to be overlooked but rather something that should be embraced by all; it offers insight into the surrounding lives that cannot be documented on paper. In my blog post I’ll do my best not to simply point out current trends, but to also include the story that is being told through the folds of fabric and the inspiration behind the art.
